Fibromyalgia is a relatively recent term for a common disease that was previously called soft tissue rheumatism,
fibrositis, or nonarticular rheumatism. Some statistics claim 3 to 6 million Americans are affected. Women may be
affected four times more often than men. Fibromyalgia attacks soft tissues, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Fibromyalgia is experienced as pain all over your body with a positive painful announcement on up to 18 specific
so called trigger points used to help diagnose the condition. The disease can mimic many other medical problems ‚
such as chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, multiple sclerosis and more. Your doctor will not only check to see that
you have the tender points that are the one indisputable hallmark of fibromyalgia, but also do blood tests to
eliminate other possibilities.
We are currently seeking volunteers with fibromyalgia for a clinical research study of an approved pain-reducing drug.
To qualify for participation you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Suffer from fibromyalgia
Have widespread pain present for at least 3 months
